Dear Parents and Carers,

 

I am writing to inform you that the school will be closed on Friday 20 March 2026 to mark Eid el Fitr.

 

Each year, the exact date of Eid can fall on different days. In recent years we have experienced very high and unpredictable levels of both pupil and staff absence across the possible Eid dates. As a special school, this makes it extremely difficult to maintain the staffing ratios, consistency and level of support that our pupils require.

 

For this reason, we have taken the decision to close the school only on Friday 20 March. This decision has not been made on the basis of religious preference or calculation, but rather on what we believe is the most practical, fair and responsible approach for the whole school community. Fixing one date in advance allows us to plan safely, give families clear notice, and avoid disruption caused by significant absence.

 

We appreciate that this single date may not align with every family’s personal observance. However, setting one clear date enables us to make arrangements that work safely and fairly for everyone.
