Dear Parents and Carers,

 

I am writing to share the very sad news that a much-loved and long-serving member of our staff team, Julia, has passed away.

 

Julia was a deeply valued member of the Calthorpe family. For 32 years, she dedicated herself to supporting our pupils, families and staff with kindness, warmth and unwavering commitment. She loved working at Calthorpe and cared deeply about every child and young person in our school. Her belief in our pupils and in the work we do was evident in everything she did.

 

Many of us are struggling to come to terms with this loss. Julia's presence, humour and compassion were an important part of daily life at Calthorpe, and she will be missed enormously by all who knew her.

 

Julia's funeral will take place on Wednesday 10 June. Following discussions with staff, it has become clear that a significant number of colleagues wish to attend the funeral to pay their respects. As a result, we would be unable to operate the school safely and effectively for pupils on that day.

 

We appreciate that this may cause inconvenience for some families, and we are grateful for your understanding and support. We know that many members of our school community will wish to remember Julia and reflect on the difference she made to so many lives during her time at Calthorpe.

 

At this difficult time, our thoughts and condolences are with Julia's family and loved ones.
