Pathway to Performance Begins
Birmingham Royal Ballet and Freefall Inspire Our Post-16 Learners
This week marked the exciting launch of our involvement in the Pathway to Performance project in collaboration with the Birmingham Royal Ballet and their inclusive dance company, Freefall.
Staff and dancers from Freefall delivered a high-energy introductory workshop to our Post-16 Learning for Life learners, and the enthusiasm in the room was infectious. The session, held as part of a national pilot project, offered our learners a glimpse into the world of professional inclusive dance, combining creativity, movement, and expression in a fully accessible format.
Our learners responded with joy, confidence, and curiosity—showcasing their creativity and clearly enjoying the opportunity to engage in something new and aspirational. The session was a huge success, and learners are already looking forward to the next workshop later this half-term.
Pathway to Performance aims to identify talented young people with learning disabilities aged 16–19 and support them through a series of inclusive dance experiences, culminating in a performance at the Hippodrome Theatre this November.
We are proud to be part of a project that celebrates inclusive arts, champions our learners' potential, and builds meaningful cultural partnerships. A huge thank you to Birmingham Royal Ballet and Freefall for inspiring us—we can’t wait to see where this journey leads next!
