Rights in Action: Junior Freefall with Birmingham Royal Ballet

Two of our learners are taking part in the Junior Freefall project with Birmingham Royal Ballet
Working alongside learners from other schools and professional dance practitioners. Birmingham Royal Ballet describes Freefall’s guiding principle as “Dance is for everyone”, with dancers encouraged to contribute their own creativity and ideas to choreography.
As part of the project, our learners have worked collaboratively with other schools to co-produce a performance, contributing their own ideas, movement and creative choices. They have also developed their dance skills by learning ballet movements with Birmingham Royal Ballet instructors and Freefall SEND performers.
The project supports:

Learner voice:
Through their movement, creative choices, engagement and participation, learners have contributed to shaping the performance alongside their peers. Their ideas form part of a genuinely collaborative piece of work.
The project reflects Freefall’s established approach of supporting dancers to bring their own ideas and creativity to group choreography, recognising individual styles and contributions.
